There are two sides to look at when thinking about Welsh rugby at the moment, it's national side and it's regionals sides.
- What is next for the national side?
Looking forward, the Wales team are heading into the World cup 2019 with a lot of confidence, they have beaten every team apart from New Zealand that can threaten their chances. Who is to say they can not win it for the first time ever? It would be a huge achievement for such a small nation, and also a perfect send of for Warren Gatland as he looks to move to coach another team. Speaking of which, post world cup will become the Wayne Pivac earlier, as he moves from Scarlets head coach to Wales head coach. Pivac has a totally different approach to styles of rugby than Gatland so it will be interesting times post World cup for the national team.
- What is next for the regions?
The regions face uncertainty, with new pay bands hitting players hard and rumours of teams that were once rivals now having to merge to stay alive. It is hoped that this conflict will be resolved soon as the Welsh regions have under performed this season.
There is also demand for a region in North Wales, however with the WRU struggling to fund the current four regions, how can this be justified?
The article found here explains the situations with the region in a clear way if you would like to know more.
